Live performance
The live performance and
site specific installations Paddy Matthews creates are probably
best described as art made specifically for a particular human
body, a specific time and within a specific location. The particular
body in question is that of Paddy himself, who uses his own
body as the focal point for all his live performance and site
specific artwork. His live performance
work focuses upon his 'state of being' at that particular moment.
Expressing the specific conditions of his own presence, in an
attempt to translate his experiences of the physical world,
as it exists inside himself, into a visual and personal language.
In this way Paddy creates unique live performances and installations
which are specific to the location in which they are made, and
which are one-time-only events never to be repeated.
