Introduction
Paddy Matthews is a sculptor. His work ranges
from live performance pieces; to room-sized site specific installations;
to wall-sized drawings; to Durational Drawing Actions. He is
interested in both the physical surface of the human body, and
in that which is inside the body and is actually producing the
form i.e. the bodies life content. In his work he tries not
only to describe the form of the invisible energies and forces
which determine the human figure, but he also tries to render
these invisible forces visible. He is searching for a way of
working which reveals the spontaneous life energy of the human
body, and in doing so, he is trying to develop a form of art
which is itself immediate and spontaneous.
